Theatre L’Homme Dieu

Summer Theatre on the Lake

Theatre L’Homme Dieu is one of Minnesota’s oldest continuously operating summer theatres, producing live performances on the north shore of Lake Le Homme Dieu since the 1960s. It’s a professional-quality theatre in a setting that makes the experience feel like something you can only get here.

The Season

The theatre runs a summer season — typically June through August — with multiple productions rotating through the schedule. Expect a mix of musicals, comedies, dramas, and occasionally something more experimental. The productions feature a mix of professional actors and emerging talent. Quality is consistently high for a regional summer theatre.

The Setting

The theatre sits in a wooded area on the lakeshore. Arriving for an evening show, walking through the trees to the theatre, and catching a sunset over the lake on the way out is part of what makes it memorable. It’s a different experience from seeing a show in a downtown theatre — more intimate, more connected to the place.

Tickets & Planning

Tickets are available through the theatre’s website and at the box office. Popular shows — especially weekend performances of well-known musicals — sell out. Booking in advance is recommended. Bring a layer — lake evenings can cool down even in July. The theatre is about a 10-minute drive from downtown Alexandria.
