Coffee Shops

Morning Fix

Alexandria has a handful of coffee spots beyond the expected drive-through chains. Whether you need a quick cup on the way to the lake or a place to sit and work for a couple hours, there are local options that are worth knowing about.

What You’ll Find

The local coffee shops tend toward the cozy side — think comfortable seating, baked goods from nearby bakeries, and baristas who know the regulars by name. Most serve espresso drinks, drip coffee, teas, and smoothies. A few have light food menus with breakfast sandwiches or pastries.

Remote Work Friendly

If you work remotely or just need a place to sit with Wi-Fi that isn’t your kitchen table, a couple of the downtown spots have good setups for that. Power outlets, decent internet, and nobody rushing you out the door. Just buy more than one coffee if you’re camping out for three hours — support the locals.

Hours

Most coffee shops open early — 6 or 7 AM — and close by mid-afternoon. A few stay open later. Hours can shift seasonally, especially in winter when foot traffic drops. Check ahead if you’re making a special trip.
