Antique Stores

Antique Shopping

Alexandria has a reputation in the region as an antique destination. Several shops in and around downtown carry furniture, vintage items, collectibles, and curiosities that draw collectors from across the Midwest. If you like digging through old stuff, you can easily spend a full afternoon here.

What to Expect

The antique shops range from curated, higher-end stores with polished inventory to multi-dealer spaces where you’re sorting through booths of varying quality. Both have their appeal. The curated spots are better if you know what you want. The multi-dealer spaces are better if you want to stumble onto something unexpected.

What Sells

Furniture moves well here — mid-century, farmhouse, and rustic cabin pieces especially. You’ll also find vintage signs, old tools, glassware, pottery, fishing and hunting memorabilia, and Scandinavian items that reflect the area’s heritage. Prices are generally fair — this isn’t Minneapolis markup.

Planning a Trip

You can hit most of the downtown antique shops on foot within a few blocks. A couple of larger operations are on the edges of town and worth the short drive. Weekdays are less crowded and some dealers are more willing to negotiate. Bring cash — not every booth takes cards.
