Lake Darling

The Social Lake

Lake Darling is where Alexandria goes to eat, drink, and watch the sunset. At around 1,400 acres, it’s smaller than Carlos but arguably more active — the shoreline is lined with resorts, restaurants, and private cabins. If Carlos is the fishing lake, Darling is the hanging-out lake.

Lakeside Dining

Some of Alexandria’s best restaurants sit right on Lake Darling’s shore. You can pull your boat up to a dock and walk into dinner — that’s not a figure of speech, people actually do it all summer. Check the Dining & Drinks section for specific spots.

Fishing & Recreation

Darling holds walleye, bass, and panfish. It’s connected to the Chain of Lakes, so you can boat through to Carlos or Le Homme Dieu without trailering. The lake is also popular for pontoon cruising, tubing, and just floating around on a summer afternoon.

Access

There’s a public launch on the east side off County Road 82. It’s a decent ramp but parking fills up fast on weekends. Many visitors access the lake through resorts or private docks.
