Farmers Market
Fresh & Local
The Alexandria Farmers Market runs weekly during the growing season, bringing local produce, baked goods, honey, meats, plants, and handmade items to a central location in town. It’s the kind of thing that’s easy to take for granted if you live here — until you move somewhere that doesn’t have one.
What You’ll Find
Early season brings asparagus, greens, radishes, and plant starts. Midsummer is peak — tomatoes, sweet corn, peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, berries, and more than you can carry. Fall brings squash, root vegetables, apples, and late-season produce. Year-round vendors offer baked goods, honey, eggs, jams, and meat from local farms.
The Vendors
These are actual local growers and producers — people who live in Douglas County and the surrounding area and grow or make what they sell. Some have been coming for years and have loyal followings. The bread people, the sweet corn people, the honey people — regulars know exactly who to go to for what.
Tips
Arrive early for the best selection — popular items sell out. Bring your own bags. Cash is preferred by some vendors, though more accept cards each year. Don’t be afraid to ask vendors about their growing practices, what’s coming next week, or how to cook something you don’t recognize. They’re happy to talk.
