Golf Courses

Golf in Lake Country

Alexandria has four golf courses within a short drive of town — an unusually high number for a community this size. The combination of rolling terrain, lake views, and a short but intense golf season keeps the courses busy from May through October.

Alexandria Golf Club

The oldest and most established course in town. It’s a private club with a well-maintained layout that has hosted regional tournaments. Membership is required for regular play, though reciprocal agreements and guest policies may allow occasional access.

Geneva Golf Club

A public course on the shores of Lake Geneva, offering a scenic round with water views on multiple holes. The layout is player-friendly for mid-handicappers while still challenging for low-handicap golfers. Green fees are reasonable, and the setting is hard to beat for a public course.

Arrowwood Golf Course

Connected to the Arrowwood Resort, this course is open to the public and sees a mix of resort guests and local players. It’s a solid layout with good conditioning and amenities including a pro shop and dining. A good option if you want the full resort-golf experience.

Carlos Creek Golf Course

Near Carlos Creek Winery, this nine-hole course offers a more casual round. It’s a good option for beginners, families, or anyone who wants to play nine and grab a glass of wine after. Less intimidating than the full 18-hole courses and priced accordingly.

Season

Golf season in Minnesota runs roughly May through October, weather depending. Early and late season can bring cool temperatures and soft conditions. Peak season is June through August when courses are in top shape and tee times fill up — book ahead on weekends.
