City Parks

Green Space Around Town

Alexandria maintains a solid network of city parks scattered across town. They’re not wilderness experiences — they’re neighborhood parks where people walk their dogs, let kids burn energy, eat lunch outside, and use the sports facilities. Combined, they make Alexandria a more livable place than towns that skipped investing in public space.

Noonan Park

On Lake Winona, east of downtown. Tennis courts, a small beach area, walking paths, and open green space. It’s a pleasant park with lake access that doesn’t get as much traffic as City Park. Good for a quiet afternoon.

Wildcat Cove

A newer park development on the east side of town with sports facilities and walking paths. The name references the Alexandria Cardinals mascot. It’s become a hub for organized sports and community events.

Runestone Park

Near Big Ole and the Runestone Museum on the north side of Broadway. It’s a good starting point if you’re doing the tourist loop — see the Viking, check out the museum, let the kids run around. The park has picnic areas and open space.

City Park

On Lake Agnes at the south end of Broadway. This is Alexandria’s central park — beach, fishing pier, picnic shelters, playground, and enough space to throw a frisbee without hitting anyone. It’s where the community gathers for summer evenings and where families go when they want an easy outing without driving anywhere.
