Pickleball & Tennis

Court Sports

Pickleball has exploded in Alexandria the same way it has everywhere else — and the town has kept up with demand better than most. Tennis has been here longer and still has a steady following. Between the two, there are enough public courts around town to play without waiting too long.

Pickleball

Dedicated pickleball courts are available at several parks around town. The sport has a strong local community with regular open play sessions and organized leagues. If you’re new to the game, showing up during open play is the easiest way to get started — the pickleball crowd is famously welcoming and will teach you the rules in about five minutes.

Tennis

Public tennis courts are available at Noonan Park and a few other locations. They’re first-come, first-served and free to use. Court conditions are generally good — the city maintains them through the season. Usage tends to peak in the evenings and on weekends.

Indoor Options

When the weather turns, indoor court options become more limited. The school facilities occasionally offer open gym time, and there’s been talk of expanding indoor court space as pickleball demand continues to grow. Check local community education listings for winter leagues and indoor play opportunities.
